Axinte:
Have you visited any municipal shelter? Have you seen many dogs euthanised in human way? When foreign associations or people want to enter a municipal shelters to see how things are, it is usually forbidden. Why? Even Romanian animal lovers admit how bad the situation is, why you can't. Foreigners are just trying to help you, we are not enemies. I am from Finland and get known some fantastic Romanians who want to help stray dogs in human way. I want to stand by them and help the best I can. I have seen too many photos, too many videos, red too many horror stories, even have visited your country and seen many things. And still, just want to help in human way.

Axinte, the website is not stupid. ***
That website is very biased and there are some lies.
The tax for adopting dogs is the equivalent of 40 euros and every owner who adopts a dog and release it in the street instead of keeping it at home, might be fined up to about 500-600 euros. That means responsibility, not blocking the adoptions.

Shame on you! Every being has to be treated in a responsible way! A dog is no less then a human! And maybe you are the dog in another life! Please stop that treatment immediately!

Stupid are the people who kill the defenseless dogs.
Do you like to feel the pain of the dogs? I'm sure, you will not. Also, be good to creatures of god.

Why do you write stupid things on that website?
for example:
***********************
"The goal of the new law is obviously to block the attempts of adoption of the stray dogs. It allows only the adoption of a single stray dog by person and will make possible to tax 500 Euros every owner having adopted a dog if this one is found free on street, whereas that represents for much several months of wages!"
***************************
the tax for adopting a dog is 42 Euros, not 500!
and any person can adopt as many dogs as they want as log as they take care of them (they are subject to penalties if they release de dogs back on the streets)
or:
***************
Moreover, there is obviously a tolerance or even an incentive, in the acts, with regard to the cruelest behaviors towards the stray dogs which are slaughtered in too often disgusting conditions. It is well known that the actual Law for Stray Dogs Administration is not respected.
***************
The dogs are caught, kept for 14 days in shelters for adoptions and then euthanized using barbiturates(those not adopted). There is no cruel treatment applied to them.

What have these (or any) animals done you wrong? exept for living on the streat. How many of them are born in houses , but then kicked on the streat becouse WE humans have not given their parents the VET treatment they deserved!!
You make me sick!!
Come on, let the world see that you can do it better than those idiots in Turkey, Greece, Russia .. And several Western counties.. You are in good company, if you really want to look like them!
Again, you make me sick! I could cry, and I am crying for all those innocent souls who are excrucriated and sloughtered by you BEASTS!!
Animals are loving creatures, BEASTS only walk on two leggs and call themselves humans.
I ame verry ashamed to be a creature that belongs tho the race human. And you make me whis even more that I wasn´t a human beiing.
Romania = Cruelty.. How do you like that on the next travelguide for the toerism??

We herewith ask you in the name of these defenceless animals to immediately stop these cruelties. A country like Bulgaria which will join the EU in 2007 cannot practise such cruel and medieval methods. Your killing practice are a SHAME for your country. To kill animals without need and reason is ethically not justifiable and in no case forgivable. Animals are creatures living together with us and they have to be treated with respect.

Europe is looking with horror and grave concern at the horrible mass-killing of stray dogs in Romania! This barbaric act is not acceptable to a civilized country and violates the basic rights of any living creature!
We therefore request that THE CRUEL KILLING OF STRAY DOGS IS STOPPED AT ONCE! We also request that effective NEUTERING AND ADOPTION PROGRAMS for stray dogs are started immediately in cooperation with animal protection organizations! Furthermore, NATIONAL CAMPAIGNS must be launched to forbid further killing of the stray dogs and to educate and inform people about the neutering and adoption programs!
This brutal mass-killing of innocent animals is not becoming a future member of the European Union! Please do act IMMEDIATELY to protect the stray dogs!

@ Irmgard
